About Me

My name is Isabella Sanchez
I’m a journalist, cinematographer, social media coordinator, and entrepreneur with a passion for storytelling and digital media. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, I moved to Ottawa to pursue a combined honours degree in Journalism and Communication and Media Studies at Carleton University. My work has been featured in Ottawa Life Magazine, the Charlatan, and Capital Current, where I’ve explored stories that connect culture, community, and lived experience.

Professionally, I’m interested in marketing and communications roles within the travel, tourism, and outdoor industries. I’m drawn to opportunities that blend storytelling with strategy—whether that’s building brand narratives, managing digital platforms, or creating content that resonates with diverse audiences.

I especially enjoy solving problems related to audience engagement and communication clarity: how to translate complex ideas into compelling stories, how to align content with audience needs, and how to create meaningful connections between brands and communities. I’m also motivated by understanding not just what people consume, but why—digging into the emotional and cultural drivers behind engagement.

My experiences have shaped and reinforced these interests. In roles such as feature writer at Ottawa Life Magazine, web communications advisor at Carleton University, social media coordinator at Lotful Realty, and currently as a portal content coordinator at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, I’ve developed strong skills in content creation, digital strategy, and platform management. I’ve also built technical proficiency in tools like Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, Lightroom, Jira, Emplifi, and SoundCloud.

As a Hispanic American with dual U.S. and Canadian citizenship, I bring a cross-cultural perspective to my work and am fluent in both English and Spanish. Combined with my entrepreneurial experience running a business since age eleven, I’m driven to create work that is thoughtful, strategic, and impactful. Since moving back to Texas, I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Marketing at Texas A&M. I’m focused on applying my background to create engaging, purpose-driven content across North America.
